A huge congratulations to the 14A Football team who defeated Green Bay High School 3-1 in the league final on Saturday 16 August, emerging as champions from a competition that featured 24 schools.
In front of a passionate crowd of parents and supporters, the boys showed incredible grit and determination. After conceding an early goal in the first 15 minutes, Jarvis Mitchell (Year 10, Greenbank) responded brilliantly with two superb strikes to give King’s the lead. The result was sealed in the final five minutes when Jaxon Allan (Year 10, School) converted from a corner to extend the lead. Jack Kelly (Year 10, Parnell) was influential throughout the match with strong tackles, composed passing and confident dribbling.
The team’s season has been nothing short of amazing, winning nine of their ten games. They have consistently demonstrated heart, resilience and a relentless desire to succeed - qualities that have carried them to this well-deserved title.
Looking ahead, the boys will step up to compete in the top division - the Auckland 15A1 competition - next year against strong opposition such as Saint Kentigern College and Westlake Boys’ High School.
With the skill, determination and hunger they’ve shown this season, there is every reason to believe they will rise to the challenge.
Well done to all the players and coaching staff on an awesome season!
Sam Bottomley – 14A Coach
