Billy Magee, a successful novelist, retreats to the remote, snow-covered Baldpate Inn to win a bet: he must write a novel in 24 hours with no distractions. He’s told he has the only key to the locked and deserted inn - but things don’t go as planned.
One by one, a colorful cast of mysterious strangers arrive, each holding a key to the supposedly secure Baldpate. A crooked mayor, a scheming millionaire, a shady hermit, a nosy reporter, and a determined young woman all seem to have secrets - and stakes - in a hidden $200,000 bribe that’s brought them to the inn.
As the night descends into chaos, Magee finds himself caught in a whirlwind of suspense, comedy, and mistaken identities, where nothing is quite what it seems. Is it all real—or just the plot of his next great novel?
