Dr Josh McGeown (Senior Research Fellow, Mātai Medical Research Institute; Honorary Academic, University of Auckland) will lead an engaging session on recognising and managing concussion in young athletes. Topics include:
- How to identify the key signs and symptoms of concussion
- Practical considerations for a safe return-to-learn and return-to-play
- Insights from world-leading research at Mātai using instrumented mouthguards and advanced MRI techniques to better understand head impacts and improve sports safety
- An open forum to address common myths and misconceptions around concussion
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of when to seek help, how to support recovery in the school environment, and the latest evidence guiding safer sport practices.
