King’s College ex-students Mark Chapman (School, 2008-12) and Josh Olliver (Selwyn, 2018-22) have recently been making headlines in the cricket world.

Mark Chapman played a significant role for the Black Caps in the recent T20 matches, earning selection for the One Day (ODI) series against Pakistan. In the T20 series, Chapman scored his maiden T20 century, scoring an unbeaten 104 off just 109 balls. His innings was instrumental in New Zealand's victory in the match, as they successfully chased down Pakistan's total of 239 with four wickets in hand.

Chapman's century was particularly impressive given his limited opportunities prior to that match where he scored the hundred. His ability to anchor the innings and rotate the strike was crucial to New Zealand's success, and his innings was widely praised by cricket pundits and fans alike.

Overall, Mark Chapman's performances in both the T20 and ODI series against Pakistan showcased his potential as a talented, versatile batsman and this was backed up with his outstanding fielding for the Black Caps.

On the back of Mark’s achievements Josh Olliver was recently named in the NZ Under-19 World Cup squad. It’s always exciting to see former King’s athletes excel in their sport and be recognised for their hard work and dedication.

Josh’s selection is a testament to his talent and commitment to cricket.  Playing in the World Cup will be an opportunity for Josh to showcase his skills on the world stage and gain valuable experience playing against players from test playing nations.  Representing your country at any level is a significant achievement, and being selected for the Under-19 World Cup is a big step towards playing for other cricket teams like the Auckland Aces in the future.

We wish Josh all the best as he prepares for his new challenge, and we know he’ll continue to develop his skills and achieve his goals in cricket. As a former students of King's College, Chapman's success and Olliver’s selection for the NZC U19’s is also a testament to our cricket program and the quality of coaching and facilities we provide to our students.
