L-R: Anoop Saini, Miyo Pitesa, Amelie Murphy, Nathaniel Masfen-Yan, Hanbo Xie, Miranda Yuan
Dux Nathaniel Masfen-Yan addressed the current cohort, encouraging students to challenge any box they feel that people put them in and write their own story of their time at King's.
He suggested that students should determine what they value, find the things that motivate them and choose their own metrics of success.
"Who do you want to be? How do you want to get there? Dream, reflect, ask and find your own voice, because it's the only one that matters," he said.
Nathaniel was joined by his fellow recent Old Collegians Anoop Saini, Miyo Pitesa, Amelie Murphy, Hanbo Xie and Miranda Yuan.
Congratulations all, and thank you for coming back to King's to inspire this year's cohort.
Cambridge Learner Awards
The following students were also acknowledged as some of the best performers in New Zealand, unfortunately due to the recent Covid-19 lockdown, the Awards Ceremony was cancelled. Their success is extremely impressive – last year more than 1 million students sat Cambridge examinations in more than 10,000 schools in countries around the world.
A short explanation of the categories is detailed below:
- Top in the World – the learner who has achieved the highest standard mark in the world in an individual subject.
- Top in New Zealand – the learner who has achieved the highest standard mark in New Zealand in an individual subject.
- High Achievement – the learner who has achieved a very high standard mark in New Zealand in an individual subject.
