Once again it was well attended by the local community and King’s College had a conspicuous presence on the day. King’s had three stalls placed at the rare of the park very close to the large entertainment stage where the Burtones wowed the crowd with a rousing performance at midday.
A team of 120 students worked tirelessly throughout what was an extremely hot day face painting, icing and giving away over 1000 cupcakes, as well as cooking around 1000 sausages. Our students also helped to organise games and activities around the precinct such as Bouncy Castles, Crafts, Touch Rugby, Basketball, Bicycle riding, rubbish collection and water stations.
To say that the King’s zone was popular would be an understatement. Unrelenting queues meant that there was no respite for the students but they maintained a cheerful and welcoming demeanor and were great ambassadors for the College.
This is such an important occasion in terms of our place and profile in the local community. The students themselves made many of the cupcakes but I do want to thank the parents who also contributed to an impressive cupcake total. We are so very grateful for all the support we received especially Hellaby’s for kindly donating the sausages and also Paul Stanton and his Kitchen Staff.
