The first Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) event of the year got underway on Wednesday 21 February, with more than 40 business coaches and mentors coming together at Auckland University of Technology to help secondary students bring their ideas to life.

Yes Awards Kickstart

This first event, called Kickstart, is designed to be a call to students to get moving with their business projects.

As Andrew Walton, Accounting and Business Studies teacher describes it, “It’s a giant speed-dating exercise but for business people.”

With 49 Year 13 and Year 12 King’s students in attendance, the day proved a great chance for them to refine and develop their ideas, adding excitement and momentum to their projects they have begun this term.

“I really enjoyed the day spent at AUT. I couldn't stop telling everyone about it when I got back to school,” says Holly Hardy (Year 13, Middlemore).
