"Chicken schoolteacher"
"Ointment carpet"
"Squid psychedelic"

These wacky word combinations were part of the recent workshop that the King's College Writing Club were lucky enough to have with talented performance poet Ben Fagan.

As a guest speaker for the Club, he spent the morning session giving animated, clever and beautiful renditions of some of his poems, ranging in topic from Facebook to games.

During the afternoon, he taught a few activities to help encourage creativity among our young writers, including one where each student had to say a random word that had no association with the word said by the previous student – leading to interesting and humorous ideas.

All of the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience of listening to performance poetry and were inspired by Ben's story and expertise.

The Writing Club greatly appreciate Ben's time, and hope to see him again in the near future.

Thanks also goes to Mrs Gina Adams and Ms Nikki Bentley for organising the workshop.
