This year King’s had three teams compete in the Auckland Regional Archery Tournament held on Sunday 9 April. The tournament, held at the Auckland Archery Club, is run annually and is open to all schools in the Auckland region.
Our A Team shot convincingly throughout the afternoon and gained the silver medal. Our Compound Team put on a faultless performance to win gold in their event.
In the individual matchplay the College’s two strongest archers, Thomas Li (Year 12, Averill) and Finn Matheson (Year 10, Marsden), despite a strong performance, were eliminated in the early stages. Finn was defeated by the winner of the tournament.
Our highest placed archer was Thomas Gollin (Year 12, Peart) who came in at a respectful 8th place with 256 points, closely followed by Finn Matheson at 9th with 255 points.
In the compound division Bradley Blackbourn (Year 13, St John’s) fought for the bronze medal in a close match, narrowly missing out and taking 4th place with a score of 273 points.
