With Te Pūtake Housemaster Paul Watts running the proceedings, speakers included Reverend Warren Watson who blessed the flag and King’s parent Neil James, who, along with Sarah Yates, sourced the manufacturer and got the flag pole, flag and plaque constructed.
Paul expressed his thanks to the Lodge parents of 2017, with special acknowledgement to the work of Sarah Yates and Neil James.
“The Lodge greatly appreciate the hard work and commitment shown by these parents in bringing this project together,” says Paul.
Students that took part in the ceremony include Mataia Cotterill (Year 9, Parnell) who welcomed the group in te reo Māori, Charles Thomas (Year 9, School) and Hugo Caughey (Year 9, St John’s) who raised the flag and Waka Waikare-James (Year 10, Parnell) and Charlie Finlayson (Year 10, Selwyn) who read the inscription on the plaque.
