Four groups from King's College competed in the KBB Music Festival, held this year at Westlake Boys' and Westlake Girls' High Schools. The standard of this competition is always excellent and our groups performed to a very high standard.
The Premier Concert Band, conducted by Mr Nicholas Forbes, was described by one of the adjudicators as "Joyous, very exciting and evocative...secure in technical demands... [with] lovely individual solos." Their performance received a Silver Award (82%).
The Orchestra, conducted by Mr Chris Adams, received a Bronze Award (73%) and was praised for "a well prepared and presented programme" with Delvin Lin being noted for his "fantastic performance" of the final movement of the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in G minor. The Little Big Band, conducted by Mr Chris Artley, also received a Bronze Award (71%) with the judges commenting that it was "a very enjoyable performance...with a great sense of style in a well balanced programme." The Concert Band, also conducted by Mr Adams, received a Commended Award.
Congratulations to all students involved for their effort and contribution to achieving these results.
