A big congratulations to several students that have received top awards in two recent Australian Maths competitions.

ICAS Maths achievement

Warmest congratulations to Nathaniel Masfen-Yan (Year 11, Greenbank) on winning a medal in this year’s ICAS Maths competition. 

Students are only awarded medals for achieving the top score in each subject in each year level. 

This is a fantastic achievement for Nathaniel who has also won awards in a series of other maths competitions this year, including achieving one of the top 13 of NZ Maths Olympiad training squad, one of the top 30 in Junior Maths competition and ‘High distinction’ in Australian Maths competition. Nathaniel is also a member of college Maths Club.

 

Australian Maths Competition

The Australian Maths Competition is one of the world’s largest school-based mathematics competitions with students in more than 30 countries participating. This year, 80 King’s mathematicians sat the competition. The following students achieved outstanding results and gained ‘High Distinction’ awards: 

Year 9:             Andrew Yu, William Chen

Year 10:           Jason Li

Year 11:           Johnathan Leung, Nathaniel Masfen-Yan, Hanbo Xie, Aubrey Huang

Year 12:           James Mead, Callum Sng

Year 13:           Roy Luo
