The Year 12 and 13 Accounting classes have each spent a morning this term visiting multinational professional service firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, to learn more about the application of accounting in today’s business world.

During their visit, several King’s College Old Collegians and recent graduates shared their experiences and career highlights they have had at PWC to date. After a quick tour through some of the working spaces, the students had the opportunity to ask the Old Collegians some questions on the various divisions in PWC and their day-to-day responsibilities.

Part of the visit also involved applying the theory learnt in the classroom to real-life business situations. The Year 13 students used their knowledge of analysis and interpretation to develop a better understanding of the Briscoe Group Ltd financial statements and stock market investment – both are current topics in the CIE and NCEA courses. The Year 12’s focus was on ‘Accounting in the Digital Age’, the impact of Cloud accounting and how the role of the accountant has significantly changed.
