School House students found time to visit the Fields of Remembrance in the Auckland Domain for Armistice Day on Sunday 11 November, as part of their weekend boarding program.

“The students first watched Peter Jackson’s audio enhanced WWI documentary before going to the Auckland Domain and visiting the Fields of Remembrance,” says School Housemaster, Robert Paterson. “Once there, students worked in their peer groups and were given a name, photo and details of a King’s College Old Collegian who died in WWI.”

The students then had to allocate the cross of their Old Collegians and place a flower on top, on behalf of the College. The task of finding each Old Collegian cross was harder than first imagined, illustrating the vast number of those that died during the War.

Thank you to Librarian and Tutor John Cummins for his efforts and organisation around this trip.
