Ronald McDonald House offers families from out of Auckland a place to stay when their children need to be close to Starship Hospital for treatment.
The students arrived at Ronald McDonald House straight after school, and got to work preparing a delicious dinner for 150 family members, which included mince nachos, barbequed sausages and coleslaw, which was followed by an assortment of treats for dessert. The nachos were especially popular with the younger children!
The girls were joined by King's College band, the Burtones who offered some upbeat evening entertainment. They performed amazingly, singing a variety of songs that had everyone in the dining hall in good spirits. King's College students have volunteered at Ronald McDonald House for a number of years, however this was the first time that the Burtones have performed.
All the families and staff at Ronald McDonald were very appreciative of all the efforts made. All the students involved thoroughly enjoyed the evening and found it to be a very rewarding experience.
