On Wednesday 28 March our King’s Athletics team competed at the annual Auckland Athletics Championships, held at Mount Smart Stadium.

With some great individual performances over the course of the day, King’s achieved eight first places, seven second places and seven third places.

One young athlete to note was Francis Manuleleua (Year 9, Peart), who broke an 18-year-old Junior School long jump record with his huge leap of 6.00 metres.

Significantly impressive was Xavi Taele (Year 9, Selwyn) who finished 2nd in long jump with his jump of 5.78 metres.

Junior Boys

Xavi Taele – 100m

Francis Manuleleua – Long jump (with a new School record of 6.00m)

 

Intermediate Boys

James Robertson – 400m and 800m

Zane Powell – 1500m and 3000m

 

Senior Boys

Judda Turahui – Triple Jump

Hayden Dickson – Javelin

Bailey Liu – 2nd in the 100m, 2nd in 200m, 3rd in Shot Put

Xavi Taele – 2nd in Long Jump, 3rd in 300m

4 x100m Relay Team – 2nd (Ben Stephenson, Piki Minihui, Michael Sheed, Manasa Kubuabola)

 

Intermediate Girls

Jade Bowater – 3rd in the Javelin

Mogammad Smith 2nd in 100m

Bruno Corban – 3rd in 1500m

Fergus Mcleay – 3rd in Long Jump
