King's College's band, The Burtones wowed the crowd with a rousing performance on the large stage to get the day under way.
The school had three stalls placed right in the centre of the park, and a team of approximately 20 students worked tirelessly throughout what was an extremely hot day face-painting, giving away a staggering 2,500 cupcakes, as well as 1,300 sausages cooked on a very large barbecue.
To say that the King’s zone was popular would be an understatement. Unrelenting queues meant that there was no respite for the students, but they maintained a cheerful and welcoming demeanour and did the College proud.
This is such an important occasion in terms of our place and profile in the local community. The students themselves made many of the cupcakes but we would also like to extend our gratitude to the parents who contributed to the impressive total. Thank you to Hellaby’s for kindly donating the sausages and to King's staff members, Rosemary and Ken Carrington for their hard work in supporting the day.
