Having been selected for the Auckland Rowing Club’s Light Blue programme over the winter months Ollie Maclean has been chosen as a representative to Rockhampton, Queensland on Friday, 18 September to Sunday, 20 September.

Ollie will row in an eight, a quad and a four.  His teammates include students from across Auckland and all of them will begin their final build up over the coming three weeks.

The Auckland Light Blues is a development pathway for talented year 12 rowers. The programme is also a vehicle for Auckland coach development; an opportunity for Auckland athletes and coaches to share knowledge; and an opportunity to showcase Auckland rowing clubs.

The programme consists of six weekend “Mini Camps” run by the Auckland Rowing Association at various clubs around Auckland. At the conclusion of the camps a squad is selected to represent the best of Auckland school rowing at a regatta in Australia.

Each weekend mini camp has a different theme and guest coaches/speakers from both the ARPC and RNZ.

Congratulations to Ollie – we wish you all the best for your races.
