The Senior Boys' Water Polo team has competed strongly at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships in Wellington.

On Saturday, 23 April the team played two matches against Kristin School and Rangitoto College. They confidently beat Kristin 14-4 but then lost to Rangitoto 5-7.

On Monday, 25 April they beat St Bernard's College 15-5 in the morning and then faced local rivals, Sacred Heart College in the early evening.

The Sacred Heart game was a magnificent match characterised by superb defence from King’s. Ben Goodwin in goal pulled out a match-winning performance throughout the game with some spectacular saves in the third quarter. The defence strategy of the team had Sacred Heart flummoxed for most of the match, forcing them to shoot from the outside.

The whole team deserves credit for this superb 5-3 winning performance, but unfortunately it was not enough to get them through to the semi-finals as they needed to win by three goals to secure a place.

On Tuesday, 26 April the team took on Green Bay College and won 13-5 to finish fifth overall in New Zealand.

Well done to all the boys and management team on this outstanding effort.
