Miss Pacific Islands and Old Collegian Latafale Auva'a has been selected to represent Samoa at Miss World in China in December.

With over 120 participating countries, Samoa rejoined Miss World in 2013 after a 25-year hiatus. They now compete bi-annually to provide Samoan women with a global opportunity to represent Samoa.

In 2015, Miss World Samoa has confirmed University of Otago law and music student, Latafale Auva'a.

Latafale will join the 133 contestants a month before the pageant, to prepare for the competition, which will commence on Saturday, 19 December.

The 21-year-old currently holds the Miss Samoa NZ, Miss Samoa and Miss Pacific Islands titles. Competing as Miss World Samoa in China will be an impressive fourth accolade for her.

Miss World Samoa national director Ulamamae Te'eva Matafai says that Latafale is an exciting and unique contestant to the Miss World pageant.

"She's a great example of the idea that it's not just about physical beauty. She's deep. She's spiritual, empowering and a young woman filled with humility. She plays touch rugby, can sing and can speak a couple of languages. It's her heart that shines more than anything."

Latafale plans to represent the Pacific Islands with pride by wearing clothing by Samoan designer, Afa Ah Loo. His designs were recently showcased at the Fiji and LA Fashion weeks.

She hopes to make the top 20 and believes this is an incredible opportunity for her.

Good luck Latafale - we are so unbelievably proud of you!
