The Level 3 Media Studies class visited Auckland's Q Theatre to go to the DocEdge Festival, Australia’s premier documentary festival that has returned to New Zealand for the 13th year.

Attending the festival on Thursday 24 May, students joined in on a question and answer session with the co-director of ‘Big in Japan’ David Elliot-Jones, who shed light on his filmmaking experience in Japan.

This was then followed by a session of short ‘coming of age’ documentaries where the students engaged with a variety of styles and narratives.

“It was a very worthwhile learning experience outside the classroom and introduced students to a range of new themes,” says teacher in charge of Media Studies and Visual Arts, Jasmine Johnson.
