Come along to King’s this week for our pre-season festival cricket tournament.

In January we were delighted to host players from Christ’s College, Macleans College, Rangitoto College and Takapuna Grammar School at our newly refreshed cricket facilities – read about the developments in the latest Courier magazine.

Sunday recap

King’s hosted Christ’s College today for the first day of a two-day match. King’s won the toss and bowled.

Christ’s 1st XI - 124 all out in 48.1 overs (M Abbas 2/12, L Anderson 2/25, M Chaplin 3/13)

King’s 1st XI - 116/3 in 24.2 overs (M Chaplin 25, L Smith 46, M Abbas 17, K Wallace 19 not out)

King’s 2nd XI 157/6 declared in 58.1 overs (J Nelson 50, J Olliver 59)

Christ’s 2nd XI 29/0 in 10 overs

Both matches were curtailed by rain.

Monday recap

Christ’s College put up a good fight on day two and King’s was set a tricky target of over 130 runs to chase in the afternoon. This was eventually overhauled at the cost of 5 wickets.

King’s 112/2 in 20.3 overs (M Chaplin 58 not out, Karl Wallace 39)

Wednesday recap 

Today King’s was far too strong for Rangitoto. Highlights were as follows:

  • 5 wickets for Liam Denny
  • Harry Sinclair 80 runs
  • Josh Olliver 65 runs
  • Achindra Molamure 26
  • Liam Denny 32 not out
  • 154 run partnership between the Selwyn pair of Olliver and Sinclair in 26 overs.
Thursday recap 

King’s closed off the Festival of Cricket Tournament in style today by maintaining their unbeaten streak. In a 50-over match against Christ’s College King’s won by 4 wickets. It was a tense affair due to key batsmen being rested:

CC – 138 all out in 49.1 overs (S Macdonald 2/27; T Irvine 4/13; M Chaplin 2/17)

KC – 141/6 in 38.4 overs (A Molamure 21; L Anderson 22; L Denny 33 not out; M Abbas 23 not out)
