Our rowers travelled down to Lake Karapiro on Friday 10 March for what proved to be an exciting weekend of rowing at the North Island Secondary School Championship regatta.

Under 18 Quad NISS

Winning U18 Quad - James Hall, Sam Cummins, Daniel Williamson, Matt Caro, Zandi Sutcliffe.

The North Island Secondary School Championship regatta saw 95 schools from around the North Island competing for the Derbyshire shield. The joint winners of the competition were Hamilton Boys High School and St Peter’s School in Cambridge. King’s, however, fought well against these teams gaining 31 points overall, meaning they placed third in the competition.

In 11 A finals King’s were able to achieve top results gaining 4 gold medals, 3 silver and 2 bronze.

Head of Rowing, Nick Lloyd, says that the success over the weekend bears testament to the fantastic efforts and dedication of the rowers and coaches at King’s.

“These results are a great achievement for the squad and will be heartening for our crews that raced. This result puts us in good stead to compete at Maadi in a few weeks time.”
