Our First XI have had a stellar season on the hockey field progressing to the final of the Auckland Schools Competition with a stellar 2-0 win on Wednesday 31 May against Saint Kentigern College.
The semi-final at Lloyd Elsmore Park was a superb performance with key players Charles Cleal (Year 10, Averill) and Tom Buckley (Year 11, Marsden) scoring the two goals.
Cleal scored the first goal against the run of play with a cracking tomahawk from the top of the circle. Buckley notched the second goal in from close range a few minutes later, to script the well-deserved victory.
Head of Hockey Jude Menezes is pleased with the boys’ efforts and their growth as a team.
“It can be difficult to keep composure and maintain discipline in finals hockey, but the boys showed a lot of maturity and calmness to clinically execute the game plan,” says Menezes
We wish our First XI the best of luck in the upcoming final against Auckland Grammar School on Wednesday 7 June.
