Thursday 19 March 2015

The top King’s rowers are making their final preparations for the 2015 Maadi Cup (New Zealand Secondary School Rowing Championships) at Karapiro next week.

The regatta is the largest school rowing event in New Zealand and one of the largest regattas in the Southern Hemisphere. The regatta begins on Monday,  23 March and runs for six days, with the event concluding on Saturday, 28 March.

King’s College will be sending a squad of 21 rowers.  We’ll race Quads in the Under-18, Under-17, Under-16 and Under-15 divisions, Doubles in the Under-18 and Under-15 divisions, and an octuple in the Under-15 division.

The Maadi Cup is the prize for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Boys' Under 18 Rowing Eights but it has become the colloquial name given to the whole New Zealand Secondary Schools Rowing Regatta, at which the Maadi Cup is the premier event. You can follow progress of our boys on our Facebook page and news will also be updated here on the King’s College website.

All the best to our Maadi crews!
