A keen swimmer since he was four years old, Dylan took up water polo six years ago as an alternative to swimming laps for training.
“In Year 8 I got tired of staring at the black line at the bottom of the pool for hours on end in swim training so I dropped it and moved water polo into priority,” he explains.
“I think this is when I really started to take the sport seriously, but I already loved it anyway.”
Dylan says King’s College has helped him to focus and perfect his technique.
“I was always quite fast because of my years of swimming, but I was never that “star” player, that's all I was, fast, not much else. But when I came to King’s they really helped me excel, particularly, with other parts of play, like centre forward work and shooting.

“The coaches here really extended my skillset and I would never be doing what I'm doing today if it wasn't for that support. When my team played my old school for the first time, I scored three goals!”
Dylan is in King’s College’s Premiere Water Polo team and trains an hour and half every weekday morning and over an hour after school two nights a week, as well as Friday evenings.
Dylan also values the life-long friends he has made at College.
“It has helped me to relate and get along with people from New Zealand and other countries because King’s is such a communal place and that, will stay with me for the rest of my life.”
