Last weekend, on Saturday 17 March, King’s College Kapa Haka celebrated the fifth consecutive year at the annual ASB Polyfest Kapa Haka competition, competing in Division 1.

“We placed sixth overall out of 14 groups in Division 1,” says Teacher-in-charge of Kapa Haka, Lincoln Savage.  “This division is very competitive and hard to stay in, so for us to still be there is testament to the boys’ commitment and dedication.”

The margin between fourth, fifth and sixth was very close and King’s received one taonga/ trophy for first place in Mau rakau (weaponry).

The group will now have a short break, before they begin the National Kapa Haka Competition campaign which will occur in July.

“On behalf of the boys, we would like to thank all who came to support the group on Saturday and all who have supported us in any way during our Polyfest campaign,” says Lincoln.
