- Rosmini College 127 all out (39.3 overs)
- King’s College 132 for 4 (28.1 overs)
Debut: Marcus Gerbich-Pais
On winning the toss, the King's skipper William St John had no hesitation in asking Rosmini College to bat. The home team was stunned by a wicket off the second ball of the match; a magnificent delivery by Hayden Dickson that jagged in, uprooting the middle stump. After a quiet period Zac Finlay shifted into overdrive, making full use of the short boundaries as he pummelled the bowling to all parts of the ground and was racing away to a half-century when he departed, going for one boundary too many.
After Zac's departure, the innings stuttered along until Luke Buxton and Nico Weerakoon added a semblance of respectability to the score, taking Rosmini to 127 with more than 10 overs unused. St John bowled with decent pace and variety to claim 5 wickets for a mere 18 runs off his 10 overs. He was ably supported by the rest of the pace attack with Hari Kukreja picking up two wickets and William Boyden conceding just 6 runs in his 5 overs.
With 10 overs available before lunch, King's raced away to 53 for the loss of 1 wicket as Sam Wilson and Thorn Parkes built a sound partnership. The runs dried up after lunch as Rosmini bowled with greater control but the small target proved too difficult to defend and King's earned an easy 6 wicket victory with more than 20 overs to spare, although Rosmini put up a much better fight than the result suggests. Sam Wilson and Thorn Parkes were amongst the runs again with the latter bringing up his second half-century of the one-day competition whilst displaying a wide array of strokes.
After a brief stutter when Parkes and Callum Douglas departed in quick succession, Tyler Jerram and St John ensured that the trickle did not turn into a flood as they safely manoeuvred King’s into a winning position in the 28th over. With 2 runs required for victory, Jerram slammed the first ball of the 29th over for a mighty 6 – a consummate finish to a match almost entirely dominated by King's.
