Once again, the King’s College Soloist performance night was a great success.

Held in the Lecture Theatre on Wednesday 6 June, King’s music students were given the floor and the chance to showcase the result of their many hours of practice and commitment to music.

“I think it would be fair to say that it was the most keenly contested Soloist Competition in recent years,” says Music teacher Chris Artley

Also pleased with the night was Emma Eden, Principal Horn with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and the Adjudicator for the evening.

“I still can’t believe what I heard,” Emma Eden says. “Every single student was at such a high level, it was so hard to single just a few out. I really enjoyed listening to them all.

One particular stand-out was a traditional Chinese drumming performance by Danny Cui (Year 9, Selwyn) and Leo Cui (Year 9, Selwyn), which Emma says was amazing and unique.
