The International Maths Olympiad (IMO) was held at the University of Cape Town in South Africa during the holiday break, with 560 contestants from 106 countries.
The oldest, largest and most prestigious of the Science Olympiads, Year 12 student Martin Luk was one of the top six mathematicians representing New Zealand at the IMO, accompanied by Ms May Meng who was the Team Manager.
The annual competition included two four and a half hour papers over two days, each consisting of three difficult problems.
Martin received an Honourable Mention with his score of nine points out of a possible 42, having fully solved one question, with a few points on another.
A very pleasing achievement, Martin has done King's College proud!
