Hockey New Zealand announced a wider group of players who have been identified as currently in contention for selection to compete at the 2016 Junior World Cup.
The squads, which will receive extra support, have been selected from a combination of the Development, Future, Junior and Pathway to Podium groups.
Teams will be released closer to the Junior World Cup Qualifiers, which are still to be announced.
Next year, the Junior World Cup squads will be confirmed, and then the teams will be selected to compete at the Men’s Junior World Cup in New Delhi from Tuesday, 1 to Friday, 11 December and at the Women’s Junior World Cup in Chile from Monday, 23 November to Wednesday, 2 December.
All players named in the squads are under the age of 21 as at 31 December 2015, and are therefore eligible to compete at the Junior World Cup.
Zander Fraser, 16, has been selected as a Midfielder; Tyler Lench, 17, has been selected as a Striker; Mitchell Murray, 18, has been selected as a Defender; Tayla White, 18, has been selected as a Defender and Cameron Gibbons, 20, has been selected as a Midfielder.
