Competing against 27 other schools, the College won the trophy for the overall highest points with 115. This is more than 40 points ahead of Auckland Grammar School who finished on 73 points.
“Winning the overall points was the icing on the cake,” says Head of Rowing Peter Jansen. “These results confirm that King’s is the top Auckland rowing school.”
“With a modest group of 45 athletes, it was pleasing to see all crews at all age groups contributing to the result.”
The highlight of the day was the third placing in the Boys under 18 eights, a result not achieved for 10 years.
The result is encouraging in the lead up to the North Island Championships, to be held at Lake Karapiro in three weeks’ time, and the National Secondary Schools Rowing Championships held at Lake Ruataniwha, South Island in March.
