“As Head of Rowing, it is pleasing to see the results of our focus on the technical and fitness requirements of the sport and the continued progression across the team as a whole,” says Peter Jansen.

Girls

The girls programme had their best performance to date this past weekend at the Lake Karapiro Club Regatta. The girls qualified for 8 A finals and 3 B finals which was a fantastic result and a testament to the maturity with which the girls approached their racing.

Some notable performances included the Woman’s Club double who won their A final and the Girls U18 double scull who won their B final.

Well done to all the girls who raced this weekend.

Novice/Under 15 Boys

The King’s Novice squad had a successful Club regatta reaching a total of four A finals and four B finals. This was a marked improvement on the previous regatta with all rowers racing on finals day. A highlight of the regatta was seeing two novice octuples battling it out to finals day to achieve second and third in the Men’s Novice Octuple sculls A final.

Senior Boys

The senior boys surpassed all expectations in winning both the Boys Under 18 quad and double sculls events and as runners up in the Boys Under 18 double sculls. Later in the day, the Under 18 coxed quad entered the Men’s open coxless quad and beyond expectation, came in second to a strong Waikato club crew. Other notable performances were from the Boys Under 17 group who entered into and raced well in the Men’s Intermediate events.
