The King’s 3rd XI Cricket team recently claimed the Auckland C Grade Championship by completing the season unbeaten and achieving a run of nine straight wins stretching back to the March preliminary rounds.

Using an extended squad proved difficult, but ultimately beneficial to the team as players often had examination commitments at the end of the year. An excellent team spirit and desire to prove their ability against other schools’ First and 2nd XI teams was instrumental to the successful season and many of the boys stood up to be counted when the chips were down.

Growth and development is the catch-phrase at this level and the players all learned a lot about how much individual attitude and match awareness plays a part in ensuring team success.

Congratulations to the boys and a special mention to the two Year 13 boys, Maxwell Rasmussen and Daniel Bayly, who marshalled the troops very well and allowed younger players to express themselves in a protected environment.

Squad: Maxwell Rasmussen, Daniel Bayly, Anthony Benfell, Connor Tomoana, George Hulley, George Dougherty, George Brown, Daniel Cutfield, Ryan Cookson, Tim Josephson, Mitchell Verry, Nicholas Soedjanto, Tom Yates, Hugo Wood, Bradley Blackbourn, Ranveer Sohal, Jason de Heer, Ryan Hyde, Ben Sommerville, Jordan Gunn, Milan Urlich and Ben Goodwin
