The NZ Blood Service is coming to King’s from 12pm to 5pm in the Old Friends’ Gym. All students 16 years and over, parents and staff are more than welcome to donate blood.

This will be used for a wide range of causes, including cancer patients, accident victims and many more.

Kate McPherson (Year 13, Middlemore), one of the organisers, says “accidents happen all the time that we can’t plan for, but by donating blood it could make the situation easier. It is so important to donate blood as so many people can benefit from our donations!”

McPherson, as first time blood donor is excited about the event, which has more than 90 students signed up. She hopes that this will become an annual event for the College.

Sponsors such as Bundaberg, Vitafresh and Almighty Juices are supporting the drive by providing plenty of drinks and food.

This event has been organised by our new Student Heath Council, a student-led iniatative aimed at providing a voice for students and promoting involvement in decisions and projects that affect the health and wellbeing of our community.
