Thursday 23 August 2018

On the afternoon of Wednesday 22 August, in horrendous conditions, the Girls’ First XI Football team played their final against Baradene College of the Sacred Heart in the Auckland Senior 2A Final.

Despite being shorn of five starting players the girls showed tremendous grit to stay in the game.

At half time the scores were locked at 0-0 which caused the second half to become a real tussle. The King’s girls found themselves defending for long periods of the game but from a rare foray into the Baradene half Grace Freeman managed to win a free kick.

Grace calmly stepped up and hit the free kick over the wall and over the outstretched keeper. King’s ahead 1-0!

With 10 minutes remaining Baradene threw everything at us but the King’s defence held firm.
