On Thursday, 17 March all Year 12 and Year 13 Photography students ventured to the Kaipara Coast to visit the sculpture collection at Gibbs Farm.

The collection includes 19 world-class sculptures that are larger than life, and feature works by artists such as Anish Kapoor, Richard Serra, Andy Goldsworthy and New Zealand’s very own Neil Dawson.

The farm also houses animals including giraffes, zebra, emu, buffalo, highland cattle and alpaca that can be interacted with and even fed.

It offered many opportunities for the students to explore personal interpretations of the artworks. They were able to use the photography skills they have learnt so far this year and put them into practice outside of the classroom.

Overall, it was a very successful trip.
