Last week George Cory-Wright (Year 13, School) travelled to Paris to take part in the ISF World Cross Country Championships on Thursday 5 April.

Competing against the best of the best, George placed a very creditable 33rd out of a field of 200, and was the third New Zealand runner home, out of the team of six.

“George did well to finish third in the NZ team,” says George’s father Philip Cory-Wright. “And to add to the excitement, he got to meet Hicham El Guerrouj, the Olympic gold medalist in 1500m and 5000m.”

After a very busy summer of juggling running training and 1st XI Cricket, George will now focus on the Cross Country season ahead. George will be working hard for individual honours at the New Zealand National Cross Country Championships in June, to be held in Taupo.
