Kelston provided some stern resistance at times, but as the game wore on King’s started to gain ascendancy. At half-time the score was 18-10 and Kelston was still in striking distance for an upset win. The King’s boys had other ideas though as they visibly lifted the tempo and ran their opponents in to the ground.
The forwards' effort was immense, where they absolutely annihilated the Kelston pack in the set piece.
A steady stream of possession allowed the backs to cut loose and as the half wore on, Kelston began to tire.
The final score of 39-10 was a fair reflection of the King’s dominance, although frustratingly the team let a number of try scoring opportunities go begging.
A bonus point victory was a good way to start the competition, but the team knows that much tougher challenges await them in the coming weeks.
