It seems the King’s boys had not brought themselves back down to earth from the weekend before and they were quickly outplayed in most facets of the game. Mt Albert headed out to a 10-0 lead early on.
The MAGS forward were relentless on attack and poor defending from King’s allowed MAGS to run at will. King’s was able to score though Takaji Young Yen after a barrage of forward movements but that was the only try to be scored by King’s. Ciarahn Matoe was able to slot a penalty which took the game to 10-19 and that is how it would finish.
King’s will do a lot of work and ‘navel gazing’ this week before some unfinished business at Auckland Grammar School this weekend in a second-plays-third semifinal.
All support would be greatly welcomed when the game kicks off at 2.30pm.
