The King’s College First XV travelled to Kelston Boys' High School on Saturday, 9 May for what was always going to be a tough encounter.

The game, televised on Sky TV, started off with some very bruising defence. King’s was finally able to crack through it with a try to Joe Johnston, converted by Sam Reid. After more pressure was applied and a great draw and pass from Bailyn Sullivan, Sam Reid was able to cross for his own try, only for it to go upstairs to the TMO where they watched the pass to see if it was forward. King's never in doubt, the try was awarded. A further try to Tom Morrison in the corner saw King’s take a 21-0 lead at half-time.

The second half was very messy. With King’s playing into the wind, we saw little ball and struggled to get out of first gear. Kelston had started to rumble up the field and scored the first try of the second half. A late Sam Whitlock esk run by captain Ben Morgan saw King’s finish with a 28-7 win.

Player of the Day was Awanuiarangi Morris.

This week we play St Peter's College at home, which will also be televised on Sky TV.
