On Saturday, 6 June the First XV players travelled to Tangaroa College with expectations of domination and victory, and they weren’t wrong.

King’s College opened the scoring early with a try to prop Ernie Ford who dove over the line in contact to score. It was duly converted by Ciarahn Matoe. The scoring then came thick and fast with the bonus point fourth try scored after 15 minutes. The King’s team was able to stick to its systems and at half-time the King’s side was up 43-0.

The second half started in the same fashion, with Liam Reid scoring out wide from a draw and pass by Edward Vaeau-Mulitalo. King’s was able to run on the entire 22 with some players playing out of position as a few injuries had started to mount.

Credit must go to the Tangaroa First XV who refused to give up. When the final whistle blew the score was 65-0.

Player of the Day was Trent Tipene.

Congratulations to Brandon Young Yen and captain Ben Morgan who both received their First XV caps after the game.
