Christmas Regatta (1)

The King’s rowing squad had another great weekend of racing at the Christmas Regatta at Lake Karapiro.

By the end of the Friday and Saturday heats, King’s had progressed to fifteen A finals and eight B finals.

Our teams in the A final attained eight podium finishes including four wins by our Boys U18 Pair, Boys U16 Quad, Boys U17 Quad and Boys U16 Single.

The Boys U18 Pair consisting of Year 12 students James Hall (St John’s) and Daniel Williamson (Averill) who won their race, came close to beating the course record and fell short by only one second.

Head of Rowing, Nick Lloyd says conditions on the day were not bad but the weather became progressively worse as the day went on.

“Conditions didn’t suit some of our lighter crews but we knew that might be the case, so we needed to be prepared for anything.”

Congratulations to all our rowers on another successful regatta. We wish you all a happy holiday and a well-deserved rest. We look forward to 2017 and the January Boat Camp.
