The boys worked their way up from eight place to snatch bronze in a final game tie breaker.
“The highlights of the Tournament were the drawn match vs Auckland Grammar, defeating the South Island Champions Otago Boys High School and Fa’afuhia Fia (Year 12, Peart) awarded joint top board 4 player,” says teacher-in-charge of Chess, Harry Wichman.
“It was a privilege to have been the boys’ coach. They represented the school with pride and should be extremely proud of their achievement."
Please congratulate the team when you see them next: Ryan Nguyen, Fa’afuhia Fia, Brian Qi and Darrick Pan.
