Thursday 23 April 2015

On the afternoon of Thursday, 23 April 111 crosses were placed in the King's College Quad to represent the 111 Old Collegians who lost their lives in the First World War.

Each white cross is individually named with a plaque.

At the conclusion of the ANZAC Day Service in the King's College Chapel on Saturday, 25 April guests will be offered the opportunity to place their poppies at the foot of the crosses.

Reverend Warner Wilder blessed both the Quad and the crosses before they were laid.

A special thank you to Archivist John Bean for producing the plaques and for assising with planning the ceremony, to Ged Leicester for making the crosses, and to Karen Thompson for creating a large poppy, which is part of the display in the Quad.
