The annual King’s College Inter House Cross Country Championship took place on Monday, 17 August. In beautiful weather students battled it out for top honours in Junior, Intermediate, Girls and Senior categories, all of which combine to decide the overall Cross Country Champion House.

In the Girls' race Emerson Deverell blitzed the field to win by a big margin. Alana Sherman finished second, having elected to run in racing flats rather than spikes, which turned out to be somewhat slippery. Maddy Youngman ran with real determination to be rewarded with third place.

George Cory-Wright won the Junior event by near on 400m from a fast finishing Braden Jerram in second place.  James Wharton came in third and Oliver Rogers contined his remarkable improvement to take fourth place.

Tyler Jerram was a runaway winner of the Intermediate event from Billy Coman second and Riley Hunter third when they both passed Luke Meadowcroft fourth shortly before the finish.

In the Senior Boys race all the hard training paid off for Frank Dunne who had too much class for his rivals winning comfortably for the second year in a row. Josh Knox ran well to finish second with Ben Mules coming third.

  • In the Junior Championship, Selwyn came third, Major second and Greenbank first.
  • In the Intermediate Championship, Selwyn came third, Peart second, and Averill first.
  • In the Girls Championship, Marsden came third, Averill second and Major first.
  • In the Senior Championship Peart came third, Major second and Selwyn first.

In the overall Championship Selwyn and Peart came joint second with Major taking the title.

The winners of the participation points and the much coveted Cross Country cake were Selwyn house.
