Cross Country

In the winter terms, Terms Two and Three, the school runs its Harriers/Cross Country programme and competes in Auckland Secondary School's Cross-Country meetings. One of the highlights of the year is the King's College Inter-house Steeplechase which is held on the school's grounds at the end of Term Three. In recent years, College teams have won 5 National teams race titles in both Cross Country and Road Racing.

Worthy of note is the success of three of our recent Old Collegians at the New Zealand Cross Country Championships 2009 in the Under-19 grade: Alex Parlane (Peart, 2003-07) placed 2nd, Mike Banks (Peart, 2004-08) - 3rd and Ben Barry (School, 2004-08) - 4th.

Also, Kimberly Smith (Middlemore 1998-99) came 9th in the 10000m women's race in the 2008 Olympics and then in 2009 came first in the London Grand Prix Women's 10,000m.
