Cross Country

The King’s College Cross Country programme usually begins after the North Island Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships that take place towards the end of Term One. Cross Country training and competitions continue until the end of Term Three. The athletes compete in all of the Auckland Secondary School Cross Country competitions, but the highlight of the season is the King's College inter-House Steeplechase which is held on the school grounds in Term Three.

Over the past decade, College teams have won 5 National teams race titles in both Cross Country and Road Racing.

NZ Cross Country Championships 2009 Under-19: Alex Parlane (Peart, 2003-07) 2nd; Michael Banks (Peart, 2004-08) 3rd, and Ben Barry (School, 2004-08)
2008 Olympics 10,000m: Kimberley Smith (Middlemore, 1998-99) 9th
2009 London Grand Prix Women’s 10,000m: Kimberley Smith 1st
2010 London Marathon: Kimberley Smith 9th
2010 New York Marathon: Kimberley Smith 5th
2010 London Women’s 10km: Kimberley Smith 1st
2010 NZ National Cross Country Championships: Alex Parlane 1st
