The Careers Centre offers a wide range of career guidance, development and information services. Director, Wendy Carey, has a broad career background in teaching English and legal practice as a solicitor. Drawing on her teaching and legal experience, current study of Career Development, as well as her time as a mother of three daughters, all of whom are now pursuing their careers, Wendy is able to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work at King's. Wendy recently completed the post-grad Cert of Career Development from E.C.U. in Perth and is a professional member of the Career Practitioners Association of New Zealand - CPANZ 1, the Australian Association of Career Counsellors CDAA2 as well as the 'Career Planning and Adult Development Network USA'
Keeping regular contact with business and industry is a very important aspect of Wendy's role, as well as frequently attending workshops, seminars and conferences and reading widely, to keep up with the ever-changing world of work and careers.
"My working life is a busy round of career development interviews and assessments, organising on-campus career seminars, setting up and delivering workshops, hosting tertiary study and course planning days and keeping on top of the flood of paper and web-based information" Wendy noted. "I have a special interest in career development theory and practice and endeavour to offer the best in assessment and guidance for senior students, using the Australian Career Solutions programmes as well as the U.S. Strong Interest Inventory.
