Girls at King's
Each year, King’s College usually offers places to 70 girls in Year Twelve, 25 boarding in Middlemore Lodge and 45 day girls in Taylor House.
Girls have been attending King’s since 1980. The original intake of 15 has grown to over 130 and there is a very strong demand for places from girls wishing to complete their schooling at the College. In 1984, Middlemore Lodge was created to accommodate girl boarders and in 2006 Taylor House was built to provide accommodation in a separate house for day girls. The College’s senior classes are totally co-educational and girls have equal opportunities with the boys to participate in College activities and become engaged in leadership. King’s has a very competitive inter-House programme covering all aspects of College life. Middlemore Lodge and Taylor House compete as separate Houses for many of these activities, whereas other of the sporting competitions have the girls competing in the colours of one of the boys’ Houses, adding an intense competitive edge to these events. Unlike the boys, where applications are expected well in advance, we want the girls themselves to have a strong say in the decision to apply to King’s and we will accept applications as late as Term 2 of the girls’ Year Eleven. We start interviewing in Term 2 and usually have filled the roll by the beginning of Term 3. For more information contact Admissions Director, Mr Mark Kennelly Email: Mark Kennelly |
