Orienteering

Orienteering, the sport where competitors navigate their way between control points marked on a specially drawn map, offers participants the challenge of using both physical and metal skills to reach their goals. Orienteering takes place in a variety of outdoor places, from town parks to countryside to forest to moorland.

King's College offers orienteering to its students and participates in the Auckland Secondary Schools' series, which take place in a variety of locations around Auckland such as Woodhill Forest near Muriwai, One Tree Hill, the Auckland Domain, Craigavon Park and Blockhouse Bay. Most recent successes were the National Secondary Schools Relay Champions in 2005 and runners up in 2006. In 2006, Andrew Peat represented New Zealand Secondary Schools.

Orienteering is a winter sport, played in Terms Two and Three.
